We responded to the need of a major online university to develop a tool to validate identities in online assessments. The current pandemic situation forced a shift from in-person exams to a 100% remote scenario, with online assessment processes that needed to ensure that the person taking the assessment was the correct one.
Solución: The key to transformation
Developing a custom identity validation system based on the AWS cloud and Amazon Rekognition, allowing the assessment to be completely online. Key points of the solution include identity validation through webcam, cloud architecture, integration into existing assessment processes, and reports for evaluators.
Identity validation tools for assessments are based on comparing an initial set of images taken at the beginning of the quarter, validated with the ID, with different captures of the examinee's face angles taken during the online test.
Resultado: The impact of collaborative work
- Reduction in exam review time, with only 26% of electronic monitoring reports reviewed manually (target <50%).
- Improved detection of copying attempts with a traffic light system that alerts examiners to exams to be reviewed.
- 70,000 exams conducted with the identity validation system for online assessments, comparing 9,000,000 images.
