The project

La Mercè 2023, the iconic popular festival of Barcelona, presented a significant challenge in terms of digital presence. The project consisted of developing a robust and dynamic web platform that could handle the large influx of visitors and provide updated and relevant information about the events, activities, and services available during the festival.

The challenge

The main challenge was to create a website capable of managing high traffic without compromising speed and stability. Additionally, the platform had to be intuitive and accessible to a diverse audience, including tourists and residents of all ages. The integration of multiple functionalities, such as event geolocation, user experience personalization, and real-time updates, also represented a considerable technical challenge.

The solution

The implemented solution was the development of the website using Drupal, a content management system known for its flexibility and scalability. Custom modules were implemented for event management and a user interface optimized for mobile devices. Additionally, advanced caching and load balancing techniques were used to ensure optimal performance even during traffic peaks. Thanks to this solution, La Mercè 2023 was able to offer an exceptional digital experience, establishing itself as a benchmark in the organization of large-scale events.
