SAP Business One Update: November 2024

SAP has released the latest SAP Business One Roadmap outlining a host of new features and enhancements for the Web Client.

Updates include a series of new tools to manage sales, purchasing and inventory documents within the browser, alongside new analytics enhancements to gain real-time insight into company-wide activities.

Users can now customise their homepage within the Web Client, use flexible list views, have KPIs displayed in user-defined tiles, and integrate SAP directly into OneDrive and Outlook 365.

“We’re investing in the future and security of SAP Business One, enhancing its integration with the SAP Business Technology Platform to simplify development, and we’re expanding the capabilities of its web client,” said Thomas Saueressig, Executive Board Member at SAP.

“These innovations ensure that SAP Business One continues to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of small businesses.”

Web Client Enhancements

SAP has been developing new features into the Web Client as part of its plans to develop 80% of SAP Business One’s desktop functionality into the Web Client by 2025.

It says the new features ‘supports smooth working with SAP Business One using (the) native web browser.’

Business process coverage through the Web Client now includes:

• Sales and purchasing
• CRM, service and timesheet management
• Payment and journal entry
• Item and business partner master data
• Inventory documents and Bill of Materials
• Document drafts and approvals
• Reports and analytics

Powerful Analytics

New list view analytic tools help users to build sophisticated filters and visualisation capabilities to deliver and present data in a variety of object list views.

Enhancements in User-defined queries (UDQs) help users to manage, create, edit and present queries either on a standard list or leveraged as a data source for cards on a general overview.

Users also now have the option to export and import views to help entities seamlessly collaborate. There’s also new features to help users share a direct link to a view, general overview or a UDQ via email with colleagues.

Additional developments

Other key highlights within the Support Package (SP) 2411 release include serial and batch number management enhancements, the ability to reserve and forward serial and batch number trace report, and the option to change the status of sales and purchase types in item master data.

There are new interactive Gantt chart features within the project management module. Newly developed financial management features now allow users to drill-down to G/L account in financial reports, with a number posting periods enhancements also available.

Support for external VAT calculation, plus electronic VAT report export support, is now available. There’s new cargo tracking and tracing enhancements for companies working across the EU. Within the UK localisations of SAP Business One, there is additional functionality to help track tax for one-use plastics.
