City Council of Cornellà de Llobregat - Connectivity

The Cornellà de Llobregat City Council is highly interested in offering citizens efficient and quality services, which requires having reliable, secure, and highly available infrastructures that ensure their efficient implementation and management.

For this reason, they have trusted SEIDOR to implement a Rittal Edge Data Center solution that enables maximum energy efficiency through individual rack cooling.

PROPOSED CHALLENGE

With this objective, the Ajuntament de Cornellà de Llobregat is adapting the backup data center into a single rack, located in the facilities of the Guardia Urbana, from where service continuity is guaranteed in case of a failure or if improvement or maintenance work needs to be carried out in the main data center.

For this reason, it is necessary to have an integrated solution to ensure the protection of equipment, its management, and its security.

The main points to consider were defined. Among which we highlight:

• Protection of equipment against unauthorized access.
• Remote monitoring and management system that increases the availability of the Edge Data Center in service.
• Maximum energy efficiency through individual rack cooling.
• Set security with automatic door opening system in case of emergency.
• TS IT structure with variable 19” profile guides with a load capacity of up to 1,500Kg.

CONTEMPLATED SOLUTION

With the defined service quality objective and, once the key technical requirements that the project must support to ensure success have been marked, SEIDOR has integrated an Edge Data Center solution from Rittal. In this way, a unique value proposition is offered that consists of centralizing an entire compact Data Center solution with all its functionalities in the space of a communications rack:

• Environmental management through the implementation of a CMC III system.
• Numerical access control providing security in the opening of the rack.
• LCU DX 3KW that provides efficient cooling without loss of space.
• 47U height rack with multifunctional top for side cable entry.
• Automatic door opening with the Automatic Door Opening. In case of emergency, the system opens the door in a controlled manner.

Data centers are vital for all companies and usually represent long-term investments, so they must be designed for efficient and sustainable operation at all levels. In fact, approximately 50% of a data center's electricity consumption is mainly allocated to cooling.
